A large magnetic anomaly has been detected at Mamainse Point by airborne surveys, the most recent survey flown by Fugro Airborne Surveys in 2003. The source of the anomaly is not well understood, but it is believed to be a magmatic intrusion related to the wide spread copper mineralization in the area.

Ground Geophysics Survey Results
In the summer of 2012, Abitibi Geophysics to conducted a 42-line km ground geophysical survey collecting magnetic, gravity and induced polarization ("IP") data over a portion of the magnetic anomaly. Superior Copper's exploration team has prioritized drill targets based on Abitibi's recommendations that will be tested as part of the Company's next drilling campaign.

MMI Soil Geochemistry Survey Results
In addition to the geophysical survey, Superior Copper's exploration team collected 772 Mobile Metal Ion soil samples that were sent SGS Mineral Services for assaying. The Company's geologists processed the data and have selected priority drill targets for the next drilling campaign.

Iron-Oxide-Copper-Gold Potential
Falconbridge Ltd. identified Mamainse Point as a favorable environment for hosting an IOCG deposit in 2002. Drilling in this area has only tested to less than 150m depth where as Olympic Dam in Australia was discovered at 350m. For more information on Olympic Dam Click Here.
IOCG Characteristics of the Batchawana Copper Project
- Geologic Setting
Adjacent to a continental rift margin.
- Alteration Styles
Pervasive Hematization (secondary iron oxidation). Local sodic and potassic feldspar alteration.
|
|
- Geophysical Signature
Large magnetic anomaly with semi-coincident gravity anomaly.
- Wide Spread Mineralization
Numerous copper prospects. Gold occurs at the Glen Rock Prospect Uranium reported to the north.
